Royal Carriage Museum in Cairo

The Museum of Royal Chariots (Arabic: متحف المحمد الملكية) is located in the Citadel of Cairo, Egypt, in front of the Suleiman Pasha Mosque.

The museum was opened in 1983, then reopened in 2013 after renovation. Since 2017 further restoration took place, and the museum reopened in 2021. It houses a collection of unique royal carriages dating from different historical periods, from the reign of Khedive Ismail to the reign of King Farouk, as well as other unique carriage-related antiques. This museum was established during the reign of Khedive Ismail and is the fourth museum of its kind in the world and contains various royal carriages used by the kings and rulers of that era. Apart from the carriages that were used on many official occasions, the museum exhibits the horses of the royal family, the clothes of the horse guards, various uniforms of the period, wonderful paintings and many other things to admire. To accommodate special needs, there are Braille cards to explain all exhibits for the visually impaired, suitable corridors and ramps to facilitate wheelchair access, sign language information boards throughout the halls, and toilets for people with special needs.
